As part of this event, MJK was presented with the "Extra Mile Award" from WSDOT's Office of Equal Opportunity. The certificate states the award is "For promoting Equal Opportunity as a Way of Doing Business."

Kuney Company is an “Equal Opportunity Employer.” It is the Company’s policy that employees and applicants will not be subjected to unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran’s status, marital status, disability, or any other basis prohibited by applicable state, federal or local laws. In addition, the Company makes reasonable accommodations for qualified employee or applicants with a disability unless to do so would constitute an undue hardship. ZERO TOLERANCE HARASSMENT POLICY Max J. Kuney Company prohibits any form of unlawful harassment in the workplace. Harassment based on an individual’s sex, race, color, national origin, religion, age, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran’s status, physical or mental disability or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Such an environment can be created by unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, gender harassment, the display of sexually suggestive objects or pictures, or any other verbal or physical conduct that would not exist but for the gender of the person at whom it is directed and which has the effect of unreasonably interfering with an employee’s work performance. You have the right to be free from unlawful harassment while in the employ of the Company, whether by managers, co-workers, or third parties such as customers or vendors. When confronted with conduct believed to be in violation of this policy, an employee may, but is not required to, confront the alleged violator. Any employee who believes he or she has been subjected to, or has observed, unlawful discrimination, including unlawful harassment, should immediately report the facts of the incident to:
