Safety
The Max J. Kuney Company emphasizes "safety first" for all work tasks. MJK believes that safety never sleeps and that constant observation, oversight and reinforcement are paramount to a successful safety program.
All employees learn safe work practices and have the authority to stop a work activity if they deem it to be unsafe. MJK encourages open communication practices that are beneficial to everyone when it comes to safety. In addition to weekly safety briefings, MJK holds monthly management safety team meetings.
MJK develops Site Specific Safety plans for each project, and requires all subcontractors to do the same, prior to commencing work. Additionally, before beginning a new area of work, or complicated tasks, an individual Job Hazard Analysis is developed. Specific safety meetings are held to go over the JHA with employees to help identify and minimize potential hazards.
MJK’s impressively low experience modification rates are the result of our commitment to zero injuries.
Recent awards include the ROSE Award in Recognition of Safety Excellence, given by the Oregon-Columbia Chapter of AGC, and the Workplace Safety Award given by the Association of Washington Business.
