SR 24, I-82 to Keys Road, Yakima, WA This project widens SR 24 by adding one lane in each direction from I-82 to Riverside Road, improves the interchange, and constructs a new bridge over the Yakima River. The $34 million project for WSDOT features the longest prestressed concrete girders MJK has ever set. The girders span 180 feet. All told, 153 girders will be set on the project, most of them 180' long.
Additional information, including a computer rendering of what the completed SR 24/I-82 bridge will look like, is available on WSDOT's web site: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/I82/KeysRd/default.htm
WSDOT and Sound Transit have partnered to build HOV on and off-ramps in the I-405 median at NE 128th Street in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland. This $42 million project will also build a bridge at NE 128th Street which will provide a new east-west route over the freeway in Kirkland. The project featured extremely detailed designs incorporated into the walls (shown at left). Additional information and photos are available on WSDOT's web site: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/i405/TotemLake/default.htm
Multnomah Channel (Sauvie Island Rd.), Multnomah County, OR Max J. Kuney Co. is replacing the Sauvie Island Bridge for Multnomah County, northwest of Portland, OR. Sauvie Island is the largest island along the Columbia River, at 26,000 acres, and is also the largest non-delta river island on earth. The old bridge is more than 50 years old and at the end of its service life. Cracks were discovered in December 2001, forcing the load limit to be lowered. The weight limit is 40 tons. The new, $38 million bridge will have two 12-foot-wide lanes for motorized traffic; two 6-foot-wide multi-use shoulders (with room for bicycles), and two 6-foot-wide sidewalks.
NSC/Francis Ave to US 2 Structures, Spokane, WA This project is part of the long awaited North-South Freeway in Spokane. We are constructing six bridges on this $17 million project.
